There has been a lot of excitement about the vegan weight loss diet.
The question however that most people have is whether it really works? Yes, the vegan diet does work and this is the reason why. The key reason is fiber.
When you consume fiber rich foods, the fiber literally sweeps through your intestines like a broom and pushes out all of the crap and garbage.
On the other hand, animal products contain zero fiber. Animal products include chicken, red meat, fish, turkey, eggs, cheese, milk, and so forth.
You will find it difficult to lose weight as long as you consume these types of food.
True, there are people who eliminate some of these animal products from their diet and for a short period of time they do lose weight.
However, these same people will eventually re-introduce these foods back into their diet and when they do, the weight will return.
To get started on a vegan weight loss diet requires planning and research. You do not want to simply switch your dairy and meat for vegan dairy and meat substitutes such as soy cheeses and soy meats.
These type of foods are okay to eat occasionally but many of these substitute vegan foods are high in sodium and fat which will go against your weight loss efforts. It is preferable to teach yourself about how to create a whole foods vegan menu right from the get-go.
Unfortunately, there are many fad diets that eliminate grain-based foods entirely. Whole grains however contain very important nutrients and vitamins. Also, remember that there is a huge difference between eating foods that contain whole grains as opposed to refined grains.
A whole-grain food contains a healthy complex of carbohydrates which provides our bodies with needed energy. Whole grains will digest more slowly and this will help to encourage weight loss by keeping your blood sugars more balanced.
When you eat rice or pasta make sure that you choose whole grain pasta or brown rice. Also, remember that sugar is more than bad, it is toxic. Try to drastically cut back on your sugar intake and if you do use sugar make sure that it is always organic.
Eat fruit rather than drinking fruit juice. Consume tons of green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, turnip greens, kale, spinach, and so forth. These type of foods contain vital nutrients and calcium. Calcium is extremely important in any weight loss diet.
Finally, try to drink a boatload of water.
A boatload of water is not 2 to 3 glasses a day but is more like 6 to 12 glasses per day.
